In the UK, mobile and satellite operators may now join forces and use mobile spectrum to deliver direct-to-device (D2D) services that enable end users to make satellite calls, texts and use data using their regular smartphones. The UK telecoms regulator, Ofcom, introduced the relevant authorisation framework.

Poland reshuffles the 1800 MHz band

Poland changed licences in the 1800 MHz band. All four mobile operators will hold contiguous spectrum from 15 February 2026. The amount of spectrum held before and after the reshuffling will remain unchanged.
